The DSHS Concert and Symphonic Bands performed at the Region 18 UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest the past two days held at the Hays ISD Performing Arts Center. Both the Concert Band and Symphonic Band received superior ratings for the prepared stage performance and in sight reading, again earning the UIL Sweepstakes Award. Both bands received many positive comments from the judges, including a "that was spectacular" for the Symphonic Band's performance of "Chester". Thank you to the many parents that were in attendance for both performances, your support, as always, is greatly appreciated. Congratulations to all the DSHS Band students for their hard work and determination as we consistently strive for excellence!

Mini Band Camp High School Band Hall , Time 7:00-8:40am May 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th,	Required for incoming 9th grade students, Section Leaders, Drum Majors, & Color Guard officers.
Color Guard Camp High School Band Hall Time TBA June 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th	Required for all color guard members that will be in HS Band 2008-2009
Percussion Camp High School Band Hall Time TBA June 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th	Required for all percussion students that will be in HS Band 2008-2009

Band Registration Night High School Band Hall Time TBA July 29th	All members of the 2008-2009 Tiger band are required to come to this registration night with at least one parent. All fees and paperwork will be completed at this time.
Band Rehearsals High School Band Hall Time TBA July 30th, 31st, August 1st	All members of the band and color guard for 2008-2009 will have rehearsals during the day.
Band Camp Kerrville, TX Time TBA August 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th	All members of the 2008-2009 Tiger band are required to attend band camp.
Before School Rehearsals High School Band Hall Time TBA August 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st	All members of the 2008-2009 Tiger band are required to attend these rehearsals before school starts. We will not have any rehearsals on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays during these two weeks.

DS Band Students make Texas All State Band Two Band Seniors, Robbie Boothby (Percussion) and Devon Powell (Trombone) made the Texas All State Band at the recent area tryouts on Saturday 5th January. This is a huge achievement , only three other students have made the All State Band in DSISD history. Congratulations to them both.

Record Number of DSHS Band Students make Region Band

A record number of DSHS Band Students made either the Concert or Symphonic Region Band at the tryouts in November. In total 18 students made Region Band, which is almost a threefold increase over the previous year. The Region Band Concert is on Saturday January 12th at 7:00 pm at Hendrickson HS. All are welcome to come and hear both bands.
